De bergen zijn zeer kleurrijk en hebben dit te danken aan versteende koraalriffen uit het trias (ca. 250 miljoen jaar oud), unieke zonsopgang en zonsondergang, kleuren dan rozerood en goudgeel, de hoogste top, de Marmolada is 3343 m, +/- 15 andere bergen in het gebied zijn ook rond de 3000 m, zijn geschikt om te klimmen & kunt er ook goed bergwandelen, diverse nationale parken, meren, rivieren en natuurparken te bewonderen
