Orthodoxe Joden zijn een beetje een apart volkje. Met hun lange baarden en pijpenkrullen, met hun keppeltjes of breed gerande hoeden, zien ze er nogal mal uit. Het zelfde geldt nog veel meer voor de Roomse kardinalen met hun enkellange rokken en hun stijve puntmutsen, maar omdat zij zoveel vaker in beeld komen, wordt die malligheid gemakkelijker aanvaard. De gelovige Joden blijven meestal buiten beeld. De meeste mensen weten dan ook niet dat zij felle tegenstanders zijn van het Zionisme. Het bestaan van Israël als “Joodse” staat is in strijd met hun religie!
