Dear Mr de Graaf, a result of the magazine Nature and the Environment, I requested information about the Nature and Environment Foundation. The annual report, which I have subsequently studied, stimulated me to write you. Last December I am a biologist graduated from the University in the direction Ecology. During my studies I have always consciously thought about the social relevance of the activities undertaken by me. If demand from the Irish 'Wild Life Service' I've done a landscape-ecological research in Ireland. The case concerned the question of whether activities in an adjoining agricultural land threaten the ecological value of a peat bog. In addition, I conducted a vegetation-ecological study of the long-term consequences of recovery management in a former agricultural grassland. In my literature thesis, under the guidance of Norman Meyers, I biological interest in an international social framework. During my studies I learned that doing research and writing recommendations is not enough to protect nature and environment. Such data have meaning only when they reach the decision makers. For myself, I have therefore decided to contribute actively to this. Your organization approaches the government critically and provide, where appropriate, alternatives. Precisely for this reason I see before me an opportunity to make significant contributions. My interest is in the first instance, to the Nature and Landscape Conservation department of your organization. There I think my ecological knowledge, together with characteristics such as critical thinking, anticipation and possess good writing skills, to use a bold and stimulating. I will also call you within a week. Sincerely,
Wordt vertaald, even geduld aub..
